Why build a mountain

When tiny steps will do?

Calm your hurried feet.

On January 14th I wrote this poem:

January Thaw

You break my heart each year
Like a lover who, afraid of commitment,
after making love,
Gets up and dresses in the dark.

I have become wise,

after so many betrayals;

I no longer trust you.
